Competent authority or the Registrar may request information

The competent authority or the Registrar m ay request, by notice in writing, any information or documentation from a legal person or corporate services provider for the purposes of —
carrying out their respective functions under this Act ;
verifying the accuracy of beneficial ownership information;
assisting with the prevention and detection of crime or furthering the interests of national security; or
enabling those bodies listed in sections 22
(a) through (g) and (2) (j)(i) to fulfil their statutory obligations. ( 2 ) A legal pe rson or corporate services provider which receives a notice of request for information under subsection (1) shall comply with the notice within the period and in the manner specified in the request.
