10. (1) An officer of the Coast Guard, in the execution of the officer’s duties, may —
pursue and arrest with or without a warrant a person who commits an arrestable offence or who the officer reasonably suspects of having committed or being about to commit an arrestable offence against any law of the Islands, whether the person has landed or not; and
take such steps as are reasonably justified in the circumstances of the case in order to ensure compliance with any directions given in pursuance of this Act.
Where an officer of the Coast Guard arrests a person with or without a warrant —
the officer of the Coast Guard shall do so in accordance with the Police Act (2021 Revision); and
the officer of the Coast Guard shall deliver the person within a reasonable time to the relevant officer to be dealt with in accordance with the relevant Act under which the person was arrested. Section 11 Cayman Islands Coast Guard Act, 2021 Page 16 Act 2 of 2021 c
For the purposes of this section — “relevant Act” means any Act under which a relevant officer —
may compel compliance with the Act; or
is responsible for carrying out and enforcing the Act; and “relevant officer” means —
a police officer;
a customs and border control officer;
a conservation officer; or
a port officer.
