Functions of Director-General

The Director-General shall be responsible for the day to day management and administration of the Authority to the extent of the authority delegated to him by the Board, including —
the overall safety and security of civil aviation in the Islands;
financial and operational matters;
developing administrative and human resource development manuals for approval by the Authority;
preparing regular financial and operational reports for the Authority; and
the administration of the aircraft register maintained by the Authority.
The Director-General may employ, at such remuneration and on such terms and conditions as may be approved from time to time by the Board, such employees and engage under contract for services such professional, technical or other assistance as the Director-General considers necessary to carry out the functions of the Authority.
The Director-General shall determine —
the professional qualifications and requirements of the employees of the Authority and persons under contracts for services with the Authority;
the terms and conditions of employment and contracts for services with the Authority; and
disciplinary procedures (including a right of appeal to the Board) for employees of and for persons under contracts for services with the Authority.
