Senior Medical Officer of Health may order closure of swimming pools

39. The Senior Medical Officer of Health may, at that person’s discretion by notice in writing, order the owner or person in charge of any swimming pool to close such swimming pool either forthwith or within a specified time —
if there is an outbreak of any infectious disease;
if that person considers an outbreak of any infectious disease is apprehended; or
if, as a result of a bacteriological examination or chemical analysis of the water, that person considers it to be prejudicial to the health of the users: Provided that, where the Senior Medical Officer of Health considers the matter to be one of urgency, notification in the Gazette shall be a sufficient notice to any owner or person in charge of a swimming pool.
