A court, on being satisfied that any person under recognisance to appear before it to give evidence in any criminal proceeding is likely to leave the Islands before having done so, may order such person to give security that such person will not leave the Islands until such person has duly appeared to give such evidence, and in default of such security the court may, if it thinks fit, order that such person shall be detained until such person has appeared to give evidence in such proceeding upon such terms as to costs and compensation for loss of time to such person as the court may deem fit.
