Cost of access

The communication of information may be made conditional upon the payment by the person making the request of a reasonable fee which shall not exceed the actual cost of searching for, reproducing, preparing and communicating the information.
The Cabinet may make regulations providing —
for the manner in which fees are to be calculated;
maximum fees payable, which shall not exceed the cost referred to in subsection (1); and
that no fee is to be charged in relation to certain cases.
For purposes of clarification, no fee shall be charged for a request for information but if the information is to be provided, the fee shall, in accordance with subsection (1), be charged for the provision of that information.
