In addition to any other powers and responsibilities provided for in this Act, the Ombudsman may —
hear, investigate and rule on appeals filed under this Act;
monitor and report on the compliance by public authorities with their obligations under this Act;
make recommendations for reform both of a general nature and directed at specific public bodies;
refer to the appropriate authorities cases where it appears that a criminal offence has been committed; and
publicise the requirements of this Act and the rights of individuals under it.
