A person who —
removes tissue from the body of a person whether living or dead except in accordance with a consent or authority that is, under this Act, sufficient authority for the removal of the tissue by that person;
knowingly or wilfully makes a false statement in a certificate given for the purposes of this Act; or
contravenes or fails to comply with the provisions of section 11, 12, 18(3) or (4), 19(1), 20(1), 21(1) or (6) or 25(1),
commits an offence and is liable on conviction on indictment to a fine of fifty thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term of five years, or to both.
A person who contravenes or fails to comply with the provisions of section 15(3), (4) or (5), 16(2), (3) or (4), 18(2) or 23 commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of ten thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term of six months, or to both.
Nothing in subsection (1) or (2) applies to or in relation to —
anything done in pursuance of an order by a Coroner under the Coroners Act (2021 Revision); or
any other act authorised by any other Law.
