Appointment of Officers

The Chief Executive Officer shall appoint officers as surveyors of ships in connection with surveys of ships and other matters incidental thereto as the Chief Executive Officer thinks fit.
Subject to such conditions as the Chief Executive Officer may impose, surveys and inspections of ships under this Act and the regulations may be carried out by any corporation or society for the survey and classification of ships authorised by the Chief Executive Officer, and in such instances, the terms "surveyor" and "surveyor of ships" shall be construed to include such corporations and societies.
Surveyors of ships may be appointed either generally or for any particular case or purpose.
The Chief Executive Officer may appoint officers as inspectors who may be authorised by the Chief Executive Officer to issue such documents under this Act and the regulations as the Chief Executive Officer may determine.
An inspector may be appointed either generally or for any particular case or purpose.
A surveyor appointed under this section may not act as an inspector unless appointed under subsection (4).
