Inspection of marine casualties

The powers conferred by this section are available to any inspector of marine casualties appointed under section 426, for the purpose of performing the inspector's functions.
Those powers are —
the powers conferred on an inspector by section 416; and
power to require a person who the inspector has reasonable cause to believe is able to give any information relevant to any investigation into a marine casualty —
to attend at a place and time specified by the inspector of marine casualties;
to answer such questions —
in the presence of any person the inspector may allow to be present; and
a person nominated to be present by the person on whom the requirement is imposed; as the inspector thinks fit to ask;
to sign a declaration of the truth of the person's answers.
A person nominated as mentioned in paragraph (b)(ii)(B) —
shall be entitled, to make representations to the inspector on behalf of the person who nominated the person; and
shall not also be a person who the investigator has reasonable cause to believe is able to give any information relevant to any investigation into a marine casualty.
An answer given by a person under a requirement imposed under subsection (2)(b) shall be admissible in evidence in any proceedings under section 418(1)(e) in respect of a statement in or a declaration relating to the answer.
