Registration of transfer

Every bill of sale for the transfer within the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry of a registered ship or of a share in the ship, when executed, shall be produced to the Registrar of Shipping, with the declaration of transfer; and upon being satisfied that the ship remains entitled to be registered in the Islands, the Registrar shall —
enter in the register the name of the transferee as owner of the ship or share; and
endorse on the bill of sale the fact of that entry having been made, with the date and time of the entry.
Bills of sale of a ship or of shares in a ship shall be entered in the register in the order of their production to the Registrar of Shipping.
Upon a transfer being registered in the manner provided in subsection (1), the Registrar shall issue a new certificate of registry.
