Requirements for registration of special purpose vehicles

A special purpose vehicle shall be equipped with the following original manufactured items —
head lights;
where applicable, rear lights, reflectors, traffic indicators and stop lights;
an interior rear view mirror;
brakes;
horn;
at least one driving mirror;
speedometer;
where applicable, seat belts complying with regulations made under this Act;
where applicable, windscreen;
where applicable, wipers;
tyres; and
such other items as the Director may determine by notification in the Gazette.
The provisions of the Vehicle Insurance (Third Party Risks) Act (2012 Revision) relating to minimum insurance coverage apply to a special purpose vehicle in the same way they apply to a "vehicle" as defined in section 2 of that Act.
