When activities and discharges unlawful

A person who undertakes any activity likely to affect ground water, including —
the discharge of any wastewater effluent, trade effluent or other wastes into ground water, into or onto the ground;
the construction, replacement or alteration of canals; or
quarrying, except with a permit from the Authority, and subject to such terms and conditions as it deems fit, including standards of effluent quality, commits an offence.
The grant of a permit for the undertaking of any activity under subsection (1) shall not have the effect of dispensing with the necessity of obtaining planning permission therefor when such permission is required by the Development and Planning Act (2021 Revision).
