Coast Guard Legal Protection Fund and Coast Guard Legal Protection Fund Committee

31. (1) There is established — Guard Legal Protection Fund. Section 32 Cayman Islands Coast Guard Act, 2021 Page 30 Act 2 of 2021 c
a Coast Guard Legal Protection Fund, the funds of which shall be applied in a manner as may be prescribed, for the purpose of providing assistance towards the payment of legal fees or associated costs in relation to —
the defence of a legal action brought against a member of the Coast Guard for any prescribed act committed while the member of the Coast Guard was acting in the performance of the member’s duties; and the Coast Guard; and
the defence of a disciplinary action brought against a member of
the Coast Guard Legal Protection Fund Committee, which is responsible for —
the management of the Coast Guard Legal Protection Fund; and
such other activities —
as may be prescribed by regulations made under this Act; and
as may be required to give effect to the purposes of the Coast
The Coast Guard Legal Protection Fund shall be comprised of —
an annual allotment of a sum to be determined by the Cabinet; and
voluntary contributions to the Coast Guard Legal Protection Fund from any person, including members of the Coast Guard.
Voluntary contributions to the Coast Guard by persons other than members of the Coast Guard shall be made in accordance with regulations made under this Act.
The Coast Guard Legal Protection Fund Committee shall keep accounts of its financial transactions in respect of the Coast Guard Legal Protection Fund in such form and manner as accord with the Public Management and Finance Act (2020 Revision) and any other relevant Act.
The Coast Guard Legal Protection Fund shall be audited by the Auditor General in accordance with the Public Management and Finance Act (2020 Revision).
