Special procedure in minor cases where the charge is admitted

Notwithstanding anything contained in this Code, but subject to any directions given by the Judge under section 53(1), a magistrate may, in any case in which the accused person admits the offence, record the proceedings in accordance with this section.
Where subsection (1) applies it shall be sufficient compliance with the requirements of this Code relating to the manner of recording of evidence if the magistrate, when the accused makes a statement admitting the truth of the charge, instead or recording the accused person's statement in full, enters in the record a plea of guilty, and it shall be sufficient compliance with section 55 relating to the contents of the judgment, if the judgment of the court consists only of the finding, the specific offence to which it relates and the sentence or other order:
a magistrate may be required by the Grand Court to state in writing the reasons for the magistrate's decision in any particular case.
