Rejection and disposal of dangerous goods by ship

The master or owner of a ship may refuse to take on board any package or parcel that the master or owner suspects might contain any dangerous goods and may require the package to be opened to ascertain its nature.
When any dangerous goods, or any goods that, in the opinion of the master or owner of the ship, are dangerous goods, have been sent on board any ship without the marking or the written notice described in section 238, the master or owner of the ship may cause the goods, together with any package or container of the dangerous goods, to be thrown overboard.
Neither the master nor the owner of the ship is subject to civil or criminal liability in any court in respect of any action taken under subsection (2).
