Application of duties imposed by sections 141 to 143 and penalties for failure to comply and salvage rights

144. (1) The duties imposed on the master of a ship by sections 141, 142 and 143 shall apply to the masters of Cayman Islands ships and to the masters of foreign ships when in Cayman Islands waters.
A person who, being a master, fails to comply with section 141, 142 or 143 commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of ten thousand dollars and to imprisonment for six months. Merchant Shipping Act, 2024 Section 145 c Act 1 of 2024 Page 89
Compliance by a master with sections 141, 142 and 143 shall not affect the master’s right, or the right of any other person, to salvage.
