Power to adjourn, etc.

A Judge, whether sitting in court or in chambers, may from time to time adjourn the hearing of any case to such time as seems expedient; and, unless it is expressly provided to the contrary by any law, may also enlarge the time for doing any act or taking any step in any proceeding before the Court whether civil or criminal.
