Unlawfully collecting identification information

A person shall not collect or attempt to collect identification information unless the person is authorized to do so in accordance with this Act or any other enactment.
A person who contravenes subsection (1) commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of twenty thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term of two years, or to both.
