Registration offences

A person who, for the purposes of this Act —
provides false information or makes a false statement when —
providing information for an entry or modification of an entry;
making a modification to an entry; or
making a confirmation of the content of an entry;
unduly influences the decision of the Registrar or any officer employed in the office of the Registrar; or
registers or attempts to enrol an individual more than once in the register, commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of ten thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term of two years, or to both.
For the purpose of subsection (1), a person provides false information if at the time of the provision of the information the person —
knew or reasonably ought to have known the information to be false; or
was reckless as to the veracity of the information.
