Offences relating to the register

A person shall not, without lawful authority, intentionally perform or attempt to perform any of the following actions —
access the register;
act on behalf of a registered person without the person's consent;
access a registered person's information without the person's consent; or
use or display information in the register.
A person shall not intentionally share information in the register that the person knows to be inaccurate.
A person who contravenes subsection (1) commits an offence and is liable on conviction on indictment to a fine of twenty thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term of four years, or to both.
A person who contravenes subsection (2) commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of ten thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term of two years, or to both.
