In any case of persons residing in the Islands intending that a marriage shall be solemnised between them, the Governor may, on application by or on behalf of either of the parties, if he thinks fit, upon proof being made to his satisfaction that there is no impediment of kindred or alliance or other lawful hindrance to the intended marriage, and, where consent is required, that the consent of the persons authorised to give such consent has been obtained, grant a licence for such marriage, as nearly as may be in the form set forth in Schedule G.
For the purposes of such proof, the Governor may prescribe any form of declaration according to Schedule I that he thinks fit to be made before any persons that he may appoint, and declarations so prescribed shall be deemed to be declarations required by law for the purposes of a marriage.
Every such Governor’s marriage licence shall bear a stamp of the value of ten dollars.
