37. Where a certificate of registry has been issued in respect of a ship under section 35(2) —
this Part, except sections 44 and 45, shall apply to the ship and its registration; and
any act or thing required to be done or not done under this Act by the owner of a ship shall be deemed to be required to be done or not done by the transferee, and —
the transferee shall be liable for doing or omitting to do such act or thing as if the transferee were the owner of the ship; and is mentioned in this section, be deemed to be a reference to Merchant Shipping Act, 2024 Section 38 c Act 1 of 2024 Page 45 “transferee”, and the words “registered owner” and “registered ownership” shall be construed accordingly.
