Liabilities of unregistered ships

48. (1) Where a ship —
is twenty-four metres or more in length;
has a majority interest which is owned by citizens of the Islands or a body corporate established under the law of the Islands and having a place of business in the Islands; and
is not registered in the Islands or elsewhere, then, notwithstanding that the ship is not entitled to any benefit, privilege, advantage or protection usually enjoyed by a Cayman Islands ship, the ship shall, for the purposes mentioned in subsection (2), be dealt with in the same manner in all respects as if the ship were a Cayman Islands ship.
The purposes referred to in subsection (1) are —
payment of dues, fees or other charges;
liability to fines and forfeiture; and
punishment of any offences punishable under this Act.
